The Unsung Stars of Your Wedding Day: Why Grooms and Guests Deserve the Spotlight Too!

We’ve noticed something beautiful about modern weddings: they’re becoming less about performing traditions and more about celebrating relationships—all of them!

While brides often dominate the wedding narrative, some of our favorite moments have been when grooms, guests, and even the family dog stole the show. Here’s why paying attention to your entire wedding community creates a celebration that truly resonates!

The Groom: More Than Just an Accessory

We’ve seen grooms tear up reading handwritten vows, crack up the crowd with surprise dance moves, and even design their own signature cocktails for the bar.

One groom last summer arrived at his first look in vintage suspenders and his grandfather’s pocket watch—then pulled out a letter he’d written to his bride, sealed with a wax stamp. These aren’t just nice touches; they’re the details that make the day feel real!

Here’s our advice: give him space to make the wedding his own, whether that’s choosing a suit that actually feels like him (goodbye, stiff rental tuxes) or planning a surprise moment that reflects your relationship.

Guests: From Spectators to Participants

The best weddings we’ve hosted didn’t just entertain guests—they made them feel like part of the story. Think:

- A couple who skipped the traditional guestbook and had everyone sign a giant Jenga set they now use at game nights.

- A winter wedding where guests were greeted with personalized blankets for the outdoor ceremony.

- A family-style dinner where the seating chart encouraged new connections (no one was stuck at the “random coworkers” table)

The Wedding Party: Let Them Be People, Not Props

Bridesmaids don’t have to wear identical dresses. Groomsmen don’t have to stand stiffly. One of our favorite weddings last year had the bridal party in coordinated—but not matching—outfits, with each person choosing a style that suited them.

The photos were full of genuine smiles because no one was tugging at an uncomfortable neckline or sweating through a rented suit.  If you ask your friends to stand with you, let them do it as their best selves.

Weddings aren’t just about two people—they’re about the community that surrounds you. And when everyone feels valued, the celebration becomes joyful, relaxed, and more you!
